ČESKÝ TELECOM presented its ePhone Internet telephony service for businesses at the Invex 2005 trade fair. The ePhone service integrates all of a company’s voice communications into Microsoft Outlook 2003. It is a comprehensive solution, developed in co-operation with Microstoft and media-streams.com. It then enables employees to use Outlook not only for e-mail correspondence, but also for telephone calls.

The ePhone service is designed for medium-big companies and corporations. It is also beneficial to firms with several branches because it enables the complete integration of voice and data networks. The ePhone service is integrated into a Microsoft Exchange environment, but it is also possible to operate it without this server.

Thanks to the ePhone service, companies can cut costs on voice services over a network infrastructure. Calls between individual users in the customer’s network are with minimum price and telephony becomes a part of the IT infrastructure. IT managers and administrators will also appreciate the ease with which they can install it themselves and the minimal need of support and system maintenance and security thanks to the distributed architecture. Company management will then value greater employee productivity thanks to phone call and e-mail records in one location, as well as the opportunity to be accessible at any personal computer.

The ePhone service enables subscribers to keep track of their calls, plan them better, and assign them to e-mail messages or contacts. Services that it supports include call holding/transferring, caller number or name display, call listing, the option of taking several calls at once, conference calling, an integrated answering machine, internal/external rerouting according to rules, and loudspeaker, or hands-free, calls.
